Morro Bay High School

Morro Bay High School and the coastal community have been without a pool for over 30 years. This was one of the first projects we started based on that need. The pool was set near the front of campus to accommodate public and school use. We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of students going out for aquatics and have an excellent relationship with the City of Morro Bay to offer the public an opportunity to swim.

The courts were resurfaced and new fencing and lights were installed. This facility is also open to the public at night and on the weekends when not used by the school.

A new synthetic track was installed, along with new jumping pits, a shot put area, and a pole vault area. The bleachers were brought up to code for disability access and new fencing was added around the track. The baseball and softball fields were also updated and new sod and fencing was put in.

The former auto shop, wrestling room, media lab, and wood shop have been turned into a state-of-the-art Career Technical Education building. The new building has two manufacturing and engineering rooms to go along with a new digital media lab. There is a green screen room and sound booth for school and off-site productions. The building also holds a new art room, as well as ceramics room. The auto shop was moved to the former district transportation facility on campus. A new student display center was also included with the new art rooms. All of these facilities are tied to a variety of career pathways that have been added to the school.

The old bus barn has been turned into a state of the art automotive shop. New automotive lifts, alignment machines, tools, engine diagnostics, etc. have all been installed. There isn’t a private mechanic in the area with a nicer space.

The old gym/small gym was completely remodeled inside. New roof, paint, floor, heating and ventilation system and fire alarm were added.

The entire building was painted and received a fire alarm upgrade. The landscaping was replaced with new walkways and grass.

The center of the campus was an eyesore for decades. It has been completely renovated with new walkways, landscaping, and a student activities staging area for lunchtime events. As we expand our Food Services program on site, we plan on keeping more students on campus. The new quad will be a great place for students to gather.

Morro Bay High's former office building has been turned into new classrooms. It was hard to tell where the front of the school was with the prior layout. A new Student Support Center was built at the front of the campus. It houses the administrative offices, activities office, school resource officer, attendance office, career center, teacher workroom, restrooms for staff and students, counseling offices, and a reception center.

With the completion of construction on campus, the entire campus will be fenced during the school day. The new Student Support Center will provide a safer access point for anyone entering or exiting the campus.

The wrestling room area in the new gym was modernized. New paint, flooring, mats, and a sound system were installed. The entire gym received new roofing.

The former office and classrooms have been completely modernized. The building was taken down to the studs and completely renovated. New roof, walls, heating and ventilation, electrical system, fire alarm, restrooms, paint, disability access, and flooring are all included.

The former welding shops have been turned into a beautiful new band room and agriculture classroom. In addition to the band room, a new jazz band room and instrument storage room have been added.

A major part of the modernization of this campus was replacing all of the sewer, gas, water, electric, and technology on campus. A new loop of all of these utilities has been put in around the entire campus and ties into all of the facilities.

Building C is a classroom building was completely remodeled. This building houses the library will be housed, along with new classrooms and restrooms. The parking area at the front of the pool and side road was also replaced with this project.

The former library, kitchen, and multi-use room was completely renovated. The new building includes a state of the art theater and drama classroom, as well as a new kitchen and multi-purpose room that can feed all of the students on campus.
